There are no shortcuts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—every minute on the mat counts. That’s why training with qualified instructors and proven techniques is essential. At Gracie Barra Saddle Rock, our certified and highly experienced coaches follow a structured curriculum designed specifically for different age groups and skill levels. Whether you're focused on self-defense, preparing for competition, or starting your journey as a beginner, our system supports you every step of the way.

From white belt to black belt, from age 3 to 103, Gracie Barra Flatirons is here to help you train smart, stay safe, and grow with confidence.

Professor Juninho

With over 20 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and 19 years in Judo, Professor Arlindo Baião “Juninho” brings unmatched expertise and passion to the mats. A 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a 4th Dan black belt in Judo, he has built a distinguished competitive career, earning titles such as São Paulo State Champion, Brazilian National Champion, and a third-place finish at the IBJJF Master World Championship.

Beyond competition, Professor Juninho is deeply committed to the academic and developmental side of martial arts. He holds a Ph.D. in Adapted Physical Activity from the State University of Campinas, Brazil’s top-ranked university in Sao Paulo, Brazil, specializing in teaching martial arts to children and individuals with disabilities.

His work includes numerous lectures, workshops, and university courses on how to effectively teach Jiu-Jitsu and Judo to young students of all abilities. His scientific research, published in articles, book chapters, and eBooks, has helped shape new standards for teaching martial arts to all students, regardless of age or ability.

Driven by passion, knowledge, and a lifelong commitment to excellence, Professor Juninho empowers every student to unlock their full potential — on the mats and beyond.

Coach Alex

Coach Alex is the Program Director at Gracie Barra Saddle Rock, where he plays a vital role in guiding students on their jiu-jitsu journey. In addition to overseeing the academy’s programs, he actively teaches and assists in both kids' and adults' classes. Coach Alex brings 15 years of wrestling experience and a background as a certified police officer in two states to his role.

Coach Alex began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to enhance his safety and effectiveness in law enforcement. His passion for teaching grew from instructing defensive tactics to fellow officers, which naturally evolved into coaching both children’s and adult classes at Gracie Barra Saddle Rock.

Today, he is dedicated to helping students build confidence, discipline, and technical skill on the mats, while fostering a supportive and empowering training environment for everyone.
